It may be an SSD drive, but it will still have a SATA interface. You just need a 2.5 inch SATA drive caddy, which will connect by USB

That is more tricky, the ones I have dealt with are more like this

What you have is a mini PCIe connection, more proprietary to laptops, so I think troubleshooting is going to be in situe. Is the laptop still under warranty, as that may be the route to go.

Also, for some reason it won't boot from an external USB cd rom drive
