What do you reckon an airline pays for hotel rooms with short notice cancellations? Don't for get the cancellation could take place late evening such as 22:00hrs.
I wouldn't have a clue...but I'm guessing that it's going to be a heck of a lot less than the compensation element, especially when you consider that compensation is per passenger and they likely pay the hotel per room.
Were you ignoring my question regarding the ash cloud situation or did you just overlook it?
I get that you're trying to pick holes in my reasoning here...but sorry, I think the whole thing is ludicrous in most situations...Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
