Loose Drum in Washing Machine

My Indesit Washer Dryer is making quite a bit of noise when in use, and there is a knocking sound. When the machine is off , the drum appears to be loose (ie it wobbles).

I have read a few other threads on this subject, but am not clear whether this sounds like the bearings (expensive) have gone, or the drive belt (less so) or something else.

Any opinions welcome.

Its usually been the bearings when that happens for me, but I'm no expert.

usually the main bearings. get them for about 10/20 quid.

Happens over a matter of a few weeks ..
first rumbling..then louder rumbling ..then rumbling and knocking.

the trick is to replace them at the first sign of rumbling ..if you don't then it will break the bearing housing that is called the spider or wear out the bearing housing..or go on to slice through the outer drum...either way if that happens it is uneconomical to repair ..its a scraper.
some don't ..some do .

so don't go buying bearings until you've had a proper look at it .

BTW not long after it will probably need new brushes in the motor
