UK Parking Control - Unfair ticket!

I received a ticket from my local Tescos carpark, I had no idea they were under parking management and was mortified to have recieved it. There was no signage on entering the carpark and it was only when I looked around for a sign that it was right in the centre where I couldnt have seen it. I appealed as soon as I got home and then within 4 days of my appeal I received a letter saying my appeal had failed and that I would need to pay the fine. I ignored this as my husband told me too! I have since received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd today demanding payment or face Court action! My question is this, As I appealed against the ticket, will that automaically make me liable for the cost and will I have to pay it? I have read lots of posts about ignoring everything but silly sensible me didn't just incase I won!

Pity you contacted them, but you at least now know their appeal process is a sham. Ignoring them is the normal advice here. By contacting them you may have encouraged them a little more. However they usually give up after a certain amount of threats have been ignored.0

You are liable for nothing.
Do not contact them again and ignore any and all correspondence from them or similar scum.0 -
Send a snooty letter to that Tesco that thanks to them hiring a PPC you will no-longer be shopping there.
Allow me to guess what your massive massive "crime" was, you stayed for longer than the permitted time.
Ignore, ignore, ignore, you owe the landowner as much money as you owe me, that is nothing.0 -
Nip back to tesco and fill a trolley with the most expensive/perishable/frozen goods you can find and push the trolley to the furthest point or till. Then look at your watch and say "is that the time, I'd better move the car" - dump the trolley and walk out!0

Ignore it, you are not indebted to this company and you have not caused them any loss.
This is why they won't take you to court, because they know, at best, they will only be awarded a few pounds to cover the notional cost of your parking.
Even that tiny award is unlikely because the car park is routinely free to users.
The letters may get quite nasty, unpleasant and threatening, so you need to be prepared for that.
But they will stop in the end.
I have successfully ignored two of these tickets, but I try to avoid getting them because no one, me included, likes getting threatening letters.0
