Tiscali Max (maybe others too) and online gaming

Don't know if anyone here has Tiscali max but i have been having a torrid time with high pings in my game of choice Counterstrike:Source. They have been between 90 and 260 ms! all the time no matter what time of day. I have been doing a bit of reading and discovered if you use a router then to change the MTU size within the router to 1200. I did this and WHAM! pings are now around 40 - 65. If you have Tiscali Max give it ago.

Also, check with your provider to see if they are using 'Interleaving' (which is on by default). This adds around 20-30 ms ping. For gaming it's best to ask for it switched off.0
