car purchase

Options
I'm thinking of buying a used car newer than the one I have now. Obviously I'd part exchange it with the one I have now but I don't have any spare money to put towards it. I was thinking of getting a credit card to pay the excess, (around £5500) can anyone advise me on which card would be best? Obviously I DON'T want to pay any interest on my purchase and I see that you can transfer balances to 0% cards after a certain period.

How many cards did you have in past or have now?
    Did you manage them well?

With no history, it's very unlikely you'll get a 0% deal. Time to start saving. Or look at a loan if it's an essential buy.

doubtfull you will get a 5k cc as your 1st, stupid to max it out on such a depeciating asset too. dealer finance for the balance, or personal loan.

Indeed, with no prior history of a credit card no creditor will offer you a 0% card.

You'll need to build up credit history with a sub prime card or two from the likes of Aqua, Capital One (Classic), Barclaycard (Initial) and Vanquis for a year or so before you'd be considered credit worthy enough for a 0% deal.

Even if you had years upon years of excellent credit history with other cards, five and a half grand is a large limit to expect.

    As ZX81 say...

Good deals are only available to very good customers. To become one you have to have a track record (it is called credit history) and fulfill some other criteria (income, stable job, stable address, electroral roll etc).

You don't have one. So even if you got main stream card (like for example from your bank as they often go easier on you, you being loyal customer and managing your current account well combined with good earnings), you would not get £5k limit on your first card.

Its like the old days with YTS footballers you have to clean the boots first b4 you get to go out and play on the pitch..

Same rule apply with credit cards if you get what I mean..

Or dont get into debt and keep the car you currently have until you can afford a new one.

If you are unable to save up now, then you cant afford to repay a loan surely...
