more and more jobs are saying do not send CV's, fill i their own app forms instead.

with all the scams and id theft going on, i would not send a CV to anybody.
;discussion/3005408]Sent my CV off for a review (cost £20) and they said it needed redoing.

Its £150 to get it redone by them. Anyone else ever used a service like this? If so, is it worth it?

I work in IT so the jobs I apply for are rather high end....
My advice would be to do a little research and find a decent template for a CV. Microsoft Word do great templates but you can adapt one for yourself.

Try here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT010144894.aspx

Nothing fancy-pants but something that is easy for prospective employers to read. Don’t use different fonts for ‘special effects’ - it just annoys people!

Then, I would Google for some help on how to best word your CV. This does not mean using all the non-sensical buzz words which seem to litter a lot of CVs and which, in reality, say nothing truthful or meaningful about the person applying for a job.

Take a look at this for help: http://www.bnet.com/blog/businesstips/10-overused-buzzwords-that-can-kill-an-otherwise-impressive-resume/9938

1: Try using good old-fashioned plain language and stand out from the rest of the applicants.
2: Are all your qualifications up-to-date? If not, can you say that you are presently studying or hope to study for a qualification which will update your skills?
3: When you have completed your CV, put it away for a day then go back and read it again. Edit it if necessary. Give it to someone else to proof-read – you can be sure there’ll be something!
4: Good luck!
I don't drink, don't smoke, don't go out - why aren't I rich?
Don't worry, I'm working on it! :p
