Hi all, i know i have seen a thread somewhere relating to your best money saving ideas and finds for your wedding, but i cant seem to find it so i thought id post mine and ask for your tips and suggestions.
My best buy so far was Favours- silver foil covered Swiss milk Chocolate umberellas from waitrose (they were xmas decorations but expiry daye is 08/2012), they were originally £1.75 each reduced to 10p each!!!
I need to find cheap cream pilliar candles to go in hurricane vases for centrepieces but unsure where to find them?
I also need ideas on a really cheap post box for wedding cards on the day, that looks nice. my colours are dark purple and ivory

Ikea seem to have stopped doing ivory candles, they only have white, unless you want vanilla scented which may make guests sneeze.
Re your post box, mine came from my cake lady, it's ivory with a maroon organza bow on it. Have you tried your local wedding shops?0 -
I do events regularly that need candles so I tend to think wholesale and use a firm called Candel Supply Company (they won't let me link grr) but I like them and think there are good. I normally order the bistro candles but I suspect the pillar candles are good too.
You don't have to be a business, just don't forget to add the VAT and deliery in the price when doing your budget.
hope that helps.0 -
I bought packs of card from sainsburys in the sale awhile back. Good quality card normally £5.99 for 100 sheets i got for £1.99. Always have you eyes peeled in every shop for those sale bargains. We made our own invites with bradley font and
http://www.loveandlavender.com/downloads/garden-rose/ this little freebie. We used powerpoint and a copy and paste from word i think in the end. I just added in a diamante to each of the flower centres from here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170492212375 so our invites barely cost anything in the end. We decided a5 size so 2 on each a4 print and 4 rvsp's a sheet0 -
my best budget tip? Vistaprint... everytime!
ive had all my save the date fridge magnets, wedding invitations, personalised favour stickers, address labels, a couple of small gifts and all thank you postcards from there. all in my chosen colour scheme and all it cost was about £5 postage
bargainous!0 -
Right, I've got a few:
1) Wedding stationery - I ordered it early and for free from Vistaprint. The save the dates were postcards, but they came with free envelopes so we used them. The invites were actually thank you cards with the words changed because i didn't want a flat invite. Everyone has said they are lovely.
2) The ceremony itself is costing just £255. The documentation translation etc is costing rather a lot more (£80 in total per document) but the ceremony itself is bargainous! (since we're paying for the venue in that too, and the cake and some flowers all within the price)
3) My shoes were in the schuh sale, half price for £39 and they're a birthday present from my mum!
4) My dress, i'm having it made and it's costing a lot less, should be well less than £100 and because my dress maker is a family friend she doesn't want paying, so i'll get her some flowers and a necklace from cath kidston with haberdashery charms on it.
5) Suits! On saturday h2b and his dad (best man) and i went to McArthur Glen in Ashford and picked up two pairs of trousers, two waistcoats and a suit jacket for £200. Much cheaper than the hire would've been because we're getting married abroud and would've needed to hire them for three weeks!
6) Flowers. I'm making all my own with felt and buttons, much cheaper than fresh ones. I'm making two bouquets, and all the button holes and corsages.
7) Rings. H2b likes one on tesco and I like one on ebay and amazon - both under £100!
8) Hair - my mum is going to do my hair, and I'm making the flower for it, i just need to buy the net for my birdcage veil. My mum isn't a hair dresser or anything, she's just got a friend to teach her how to do french plaits, and then we're going to practice. I want a sort of upside down french plait thingy.
I'm doing all my own make up etc too.saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...0 -
Thank you all for your brilliant suggestions. I will have a look at the suggested sites now.
I forgot to mention i got hurricane vases from dunnes stores- reduced from £10.99 to £1 each.
I love getting a bargain so please keep you tips coming.0 -
