Comments

  • im having white peonies (closed so they look like scoops of ice cream) and will be chucking in purple sparkly bits and tying it all together with purple ribbon, so it still "goes"
as i knew i would struggle to find purple flowers that i liked!
  • Have a look at this: http://www.flowers.org.uk/public/display_purple_colour.php

Most of the names have links attached with their pictures, but you may need to google a few of them.

haven't hit the florist yet but i've found some flowers that i really love

for my bouquet i want purple lisanthus with yellow craspidea and some greenery i think the two colours look fabulous together. i'm just hoping that the florist can get craspedia over here.

for my sisters bouquet i want it to be more yellow with touches of green and purple as her bridesmaid dress is a lovely cadburys purple colour.

i don't want mad flowers for the church just a small arrangement in front of the alter and also two small arrangements for either side of the alter rails (which then can be put on the top table for the reception)

i also want 3 or 4 Allium, preferably purple sensation in pots (planted not cut) outside the front of the church which again can be moved

similar to the picture below actually which i think is lovely but definitely want them planted so my mum can keep them around the house after the wedding... i think they're such pretty flowers

ohhh just saw this too, the little small white daisies would be a lovely white flower to use as a filler for the bigger arrangements (again with the funky craspedia flowers)

that's the ideas so far but i need to talk to a florist and see what prices i get quoted

have pm-ed you as I don't know how to upload pics. My daughter had purple and lilac real flowers - marks and spencer sell carnations - large and spray

I made whole lot - bridal shower bouquet, 7 bridesmaids, 20 buttonholes etc for less than £100 and the photographer didn't believe it!

http://www.altimate.co.uk/site_project_photo.php?project=256&cat=2 - this is link to album, bear in mind colours aren't quite true on photos - I'm in red!!!

I'm having a posy and had quotes from £35 - £70 if that helps. (Needless to say, I'm not going with the £70 florist)

Dont be fooled by the cheap florist an motivated by money, a wedding day is one of the most important of your life and everything should be right and of the highest quality. Im not saying that the florist to quote £70 is the best but sometimes you pay for quality, experience and creativity.

    Source: local wedding florist.

To answer your question, i completely depends what you want. Best advice is to get 3-4 quotes from local florists and look at their work. A good florist will have plenty of photos and usually something pictured thats similar to what your looking for.

Word of mouth is the best recommendation you can received when choosing a florist or any other wedding services

    Good Luck

    To give you an idea....

My bouquet is a *small* teardrop dangly type one, using all in season pink & cream flowers and that is £50.

My bridesmaid bouquets are small rose posies containing approx 5 roses each and some foliage, they are £25 each.

When i gave most florists my budgets there was a lot of sharp intakes of breaths followed by no's.

The florist im using says that for £50 you can get a really nice bouquet with in season flowers, but if you're going to want summer flowers in winter, or lillies or other exotic flowers then you're looking at £90+ for a teardrop, and around £60 for a large handtied roses (20 ish in bunch)

from what i've been told by others to keep the prices down do a double check online to see what flowers are in season the time you are getting married and try to stick to some of them. just like food if you want something thats out of season and hard to get (or it has to be imported) the prices go way way up.

brilliant website that helped me decided what flowers are going to be in season when i get married

have a look through and note down any you might like for your bouquet..... you can also have a look at the colour pages to see what flowers you took a note of match your colour theme.

at least it means you can go prepared to the florist with some possible ideas.

This is similar to my bouquet.

Purple double lisianthus, ivory and blush pink roses. I'm also having freesia and sprigs of rosemary for a nice fragrance.

That's a lovely bouquet, and were getting married the same day!:D

Still can't decide on the purple flowers, may speak to my florist then maybe change the colour scheme.

I am having the double purple lisianthus too. Although it is actually called 'blue' even though it is blatently purple :p :rotfl: My bridesmaid is having a white/blue varigated lisianthus (it is white with purple tips to the petals. OH is having the purple lisianthus as a button hole and other guys are having the white/purple as buttonholes. I'm not sure exactly what will be in the display on the ceremony table I just told the florist to do something purple and pretty and I trust her :)
