Hi,
I have noticed that i get 200mb free web space with my service provider.I was going to start a family album of old photos there. Is this suitable.
Previously I was going to use facebook / photobucket as I am quite happy to have the photos in the public domain however I thought it might be best to retain some control. Opinions please.
If the webspace is the way to go can anyone recommend a simple and inexpensive programe?
Thanks
Paul

You can get 7000MB free space from zoka.cc if you need more. The only downsides I've noticed (compared to paid for space) is that they add a robots.txt file that you can't change (which means that search engines won't index your site), and you have statcounter code added to your HTML pages.
Anyway, for a simple website containing a few photos, the easiest way is probably to write the HTML yourself. There are some great tutorials and references at W3schools.com.
Alternatively there are some free web photo gallery creators at the link below, but obviously you won't have as much control over the layout/design as if you write the HTML yourself:

use either fickr or Google photos (which is actually called picasa)
Flickr gives you 300mb of space free per month and Picasa gives you 2gb free and you can get another 20gb for £3 per year. Each have extensive privacy options so you can set then so photos can either be viewable by all on the web or simply by the people you want to have access.
So for example on Flickr, I have a folder that is labeled "December 2010", in it are photos of buildings that are accessible to anyone, and photos of family that are only accessible to family members I have given access to.
Unless you are desperate to learn web design, I wouldn't bother with learning HTML or doing any coding.0 -

Notepad. Anything you can imagine, you can do with notepad. Yes there are many tools out there, but until you have done it native with notepad, you are not really in a good position to make an informed choice.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I agree about the Google one... Picassa. We use it as it's private where needed and it's as cheap as chips. Although quite often service providers give you free webspace too but everybody forgets about it!0

Thanks everyone. It looks like picasa is for me (If t doesn't confuse me too much)
