I would say yes upgrade to Silver. My SIL went bronze (Skegness)and said it wasnt very nice. We have always gone silver and never had a problem so yeah if you can afford to upgrade then personally I would.
With regards to upgrading food hall we have used the normal standard dining and the last couple of times upgraded to the premier and id upgrade every time. Just a nicer feel to the place, not as noisy and a lot cleaner. Having said that, the food is ok in the standard dining hall, so you dont have to go the full hog and upgrade. Long as you take baby wipes to clean the table and you dont mind it being very busy its ok.0 -
We usually stay in the silver accommodation but booked through the sun holidays last year and stuck with the standard. It was perfectly adequate for what we needed and the amount of time we spent there. The main difference was that it didn't get cleaned daily but that suited us fine. As for the food, we found it pretty much the same in both restaurants. The upgraded restaurants have a nicer atmosphere and in the standard you may have to share a long table with another family but this didn't bother us. We have just booked to go back and have gone for standard accommodation again as for the difference in price, I don't think silver offers that much more.0

Definately upgrade if you can afford to!! We go to Butlins (skeggy) every summer for a week and would not stay in the bronze accomodation again. Did it two years running and it was damp, cold and depressing! The "wardrobe" had mould in it and every morning the windows were running with water and the curtains were dripping! We now go silver and it's a lot better! Believe me, I am not a snob but a week's worth of damp smelling, musty clothes was not much fun!!
As for the restaurant, we upgraded last summer and it was so much better!! I go on holiday with just my dd 8 and find the huge long tables in the other restaurant really awkward when we have to sit with other families! The food is better but overall it's just nicer being sat at our own table away from strangers (Im not a very sociable person!!:rotfl:) and it's cleaner, quieter and generally a much nicer experience!
We wouldn't go back without the upgrades!!

We always book to go silver when we go too rather than standard, but even that last summer was not as nice as it normally is. Accommodation looked tired and we did find chewing gum stuck to the bedside table and sticky stuff on the dining table. We know the room was 'cleaned' as we had to wait for them to finish- we saw them in the room. Maybe it was just the end of the park we ended up in last time (we stay at Skeggy one) but I was dissappointed. That being said we stupidly didnt complain about that (we did about the broken microwave and that got exchanged within te hour!) and we will be going back and most likely to silver as I cant justify the cost of gold but I think we will be more proactive next time if its not up to scratch0
