Your post suggests that you believe current employer to be struggling. Have you seen the order book? Are the number, size, value of the orders decreasing? Who are your current clients? Are they in good health? If all the vibes are negative I'd be really tempted to take the money and run for the hills. Are you confident given your abilties and knowledge in getting a new job/income stream within a defined time period?

Order book - NIL !!!!!

Really struggling. Making huge losses.

Hmm. My skills are pretty good and been made redundant three times before and always found new job in month or two.

Everyone in company been offered VR. Failing that 1/4 of workforce will go either way.

Its a large european company, mainly French/German run so I guess the moneys there to pay out. The French/Germans arent doing so bad, the UK operation is.

Getting rid of UK people is a LOT cheaper than getting rid of French people.

Comapanies will pay other compaies to take on failing business units in France, it is cheaper than trying to shut them down.
