New car advice please
Hi there!
I'm getting a loan in the next couple of months to pick up a new car, as mine is on its last legs. I'm just looking for some advice on where to go to buy/recommendations from people in the know. DISCLAIMER: I am not a proper boy, and know very little about cars!
Me: Experienced driver, no claims bonus, not an aggressive/fast driver, happy to get there in one piece, even if it takes a few minutes longer! I've thoroughly enjoyed driving Prius and Renaults, and I used to have a bulky cavalier, which was OK. My Punto has been a nightmare sadly. I've had german cars recommended to me by a work colleague.
Price: Loan will be about £5k over 5 years. Lower would of course be better, but prepared to pay more to get the right car.
Musts:
Excellent fuel economy
5 Door
Not too big
Not FIAT.
Central Locking
Some kind of warranty (I know this rules out a lot of places to buy, but the problems I had with last car have put me off, I'm not good enough with motors to sort minor problems myself really.)
Not too ludicrous to insure a learner on, my wife will start driving soon.
Ideals, no matter how unrealistic!;):
High-end sound system
Convertible
Hybrid
Your thoughts please!

There are some good HP offers about if you shop around, I personally think the germans make the best car, you could get a very nice Audi A3 1.6 or 1.8 diesel on a 05 plate with great mpg..0 -
Sorry, what's HP?Union official.

Sorry, just twigged it's hire purchase.
Most of the HP deals don't come in at a better rate than the personal loan rate I'll get.
Thanks for the advice though, looking at Audis now!Union official.

Jap or German are the best bets for reliability. Diesel for MPG.
Skoda Fabia would be my recommendation.

honda civic, honda jazz, polo, golf, audi a1, a2, a3,
not sure about a 1.6 engine as they tend to be thirsty if they are in something like an audi a30 -
Seat Leon, Skoda Fabia, VW Golf, to me the A3 is just a top spec version of the Golf, i believe you pay a bit for the badge, but its a good car...
Japanese is worth looking at, the 2005 onwards civic only does a diesel in 2.2, the older civic you can get for £4000, its a 1.7 diesel, 5 door is enormous inside.
Toyota Auris is another option, i found it a little dull however. Mazda 3 is also a nice motor...0 -
So, what you're both saying, is Jap or German?! :rotfl::A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things.
