yaaaaaaay! I'm married! Last night was phenomenal. absolutely the best day of my life.
OH suffers from very severe anxiety and I am SO AMAZINGLY proud of him for his beautifully collected delivery of his vows an his utterly wonderful speech. It's a huge huge thing and everyone was stunned by how well he did.
I'm also completely floored by the huge amount of cards and well wishes we received! Incredible!Life on a shoestring!0 -

Well my daughter Catherine (TheSeventh on here - see above post) is married now!
We had quite a few mishaps and last minute hitches which I will list below - but the wedding went really well, and no one seemed to notice the hitches!
Saturday before wedding: I received a phone call to say that the fridge in the village hall venue had broken down and was not repairable. I had to hire a fridge and get it transported to the venue, at a cost of £144.
Thursday before wedding: Caterer (who is a friend) rang to say that her mother was terminally ill - it was a complete shock and she had days to live, she would not be able to do the wedding or finish the cake! We found 2 other friends to do it and hired 2 16 year old girls to be waitresses, none of them had done a wedding before - I went with one of them to Bookers and to Aldi for supplies, (we guessed at quantities) and they did a fantastic job - we got someone else to finish the cake and it was lovely.
Day before wedding - took all stuff to the venue and decorated the hall - realised we had forgotten essential items like glass jugs. Alwyn had to do a 6am dash to the hall on the day of the wedding. Also we were finishing off the favours (which were cake pops - little cakes on sticks) and ran out of wrapping cellophane at 1am in the morning. - I did a dash to Hobbycraft to get more Saturday morning.
Day of wedding -
took Catherine to the hairdresser - they didn't have her booked in and her hairdresser was on holiday! Persuaded them to find someone to do it - it looked lovely!
My sister's car broke down and she couldn't get to the wedding at all - she was supposed to be transporting my 15 year old son, who was an usher, but luckily the photographers had room in the car and they took him with them.
Between us my husband and I forgot our camera, which had an SD card inside that was going to be used to show pics of the legal ceremony held in the morning - so couldn't display that.
Catherine arrived at the venue and immediately got oil on the train of her dress!
Loads of people had come with no thought to how they would get home, and the local taxi firms couldn't cope, they ran round trips, the last one leaving about 2 am.
Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect - weather was gorgeous, Catherine was beautiful - she looked radiant - and everyone who came said how much they had enjoyed it!
Highlights were the 2 best men's speeches - one listed all of David's previous girlfriends and their shortcomings (!) and the other sang a song he had composed to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan's 'I am the very model of a modern major general' and it was fantastic.
I loved every minute and will post piccies as soon as I can.
I will NEVER organise a wedding again!:rotfl:0 -

Thinking back to the day (not that I can remember much of it - such a blur!) a few notes:
Having the small ceremony with immediate family only was perfect - I got to speak to everyone who was there properly.
The wedding breakfast venue was fantastic - I was a bit annoyed that they waited until we arrived before pouring the arrival drinks rather than having them ready, but the food was delicious and MASSIVE portions. We didn't drink half of the booze I ordered but being a silly MSE-er I never asked whether we'd get a refund. But never mind! Whilst we were there, two other couples came over to us, one had been married 52 years that day and the other 61 years which was lovely
The ladies at the evening venue had set everything up fantastically - I had only ever seen the barn as a blank empty room, so seeing everything out was amazing, and they'd followed my instructions to the letter :rotfl: I spoke to every single guest, but wish i had spoken to some a bit more, but everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves. We had put some little pieces of paper on the table and asked people to do drawings for us and the results were amazing - some serious, some funny, some downright lewd :rotfl: not sure what we're going to do with them yet...
I wish we had had a little more time to let things sink in before going away as it was such a whirlwind. I'm glad we stayed in the same hotel as a lot of our guests though as it was so nice to see everyone again at breakfast - and we travelled down South the afternoon after the wedding and visited my grandmother who isn't well enough to have attended the wedding. I gave her my bouquet and told her all about the day and she was so happy to have been included in that day.
I LOVE being marriedgoing back to work this week has been pants though
I'm in discussions with OH about becoming a housewife / lady what lunches / kept woman but he's not keen... :rotfl:
