My late dad died in 2004. My sister and I were made executors of the will and we thought we had finalised all his finances. Then this we I received a form from a tracing company called ProSearch addressed to me and my sisters, executor of .....
It is saying that records held by BG Group plc show that dividends have been sent to us but remain uncashed, and so BG have retained ProSearch to help find us to update BG records and claim outstanding dividends, obtain a duplicate share certificate and sell any shares recovered if wished.
It shows that we hold 169 shares and uncashed diviens due is £95.15.
Then it says closing date for this dedicated and discretionary service is 14 Jan 2011, well I only received it today 24th!
Am I best to phone this ProSearch or phone BG I have not got a clue what to do, any advice would be much appreciated.

Equiniti is the registrar for BG shares:

Agree with Linton.
Definitely go direct to Registrar.
Had a similar situation ( not prosearch) and just phoned the registrar and they re-issued cheques no charge (I might have had to send copy of probate, I can't remember)0 -
Many thanks I did read the small print thank goodness and thought the fees were expensive and seemed rip off, I will ring BG direct but I did not have any clue that my dad had these shares so ive no reference number or certificate.0

I think you will get more help from the Registrar rather than BG themselves.0 -
Thanks folks, I will contact the Registrar0

I have now received a small estate declaration form from equitini and a letter stating that there are 169 shares, next to it it says security-ordinary shares of 10p each, what does that mean?
I googled gb shares and they are around £14 each, does that mean they are worth 169 x £14 at the moment, sorry to appear thick but i have never dealt in shares before.
The letter also says upon receipt of death cert they will be able to provide me with the balance of shares as at the date of death.

Yes - BG shares are currently worth approx £14 each. The 10p bit is the 'nominal' value, and bears no relation to the actual 'market' value of the shares. My PV system: South West England, 10x 250Wp Trina Solar panels, Fronius Inverter, South facing roof, 35° pitch with no shading.0
