The national chains have some decent places in Leicester.

Prezzos on Silver St is very nice.

Ask, nr Voodoo is also good.

    Zizzi's in the Highcross

There's a good Spanish restaurant on Granby St (name slips my mind atm)

It's such a shame you don't like spicy food....my favorite hobby!!

Carluccio's at Highcross is very good and also San Carlo on Granby Street. For higher end dining, but not strictly Italian, I would reccomend The Case which is above the shops on the corner of Hotel Street. Also the best place for lunch is Mrs Bridge's Tea Room on Loseby lane.

Shame you don't like spicy food! I know a of a few good indian restaurants although here are some recommendations for south indian which isnt really that spicy. Shivalli on welford road is good and Halli on granby street is yummy!

For italian food there's also Dolce Vita on Narborough road which is pretty good.

Edit I think a new one opened up near the highcross although i'm not quite sure of its location

I'm not much of a pub goer but I've been to the Hobby horse once in Syston. It was a long time ago so I'm not sure what it's like now. A bit far from New parks though. Sorry!

The Bees Knees, which is opposite the Meridian Leisure Park. Might not be too far for you

Other half works at the Meridian and says avoid Bees Knees at all costs. Ditto Hobby Horse - we drink there sometimes and the drink is fine but food a bit dodgy. Theres a couple in Glenfield - the one attached to the hotel near the Shell petrol station (sorry, I've lived in Leicester 4 years and I still dont know the names of most places :rotfl:) is very nice, I've been in there a few times.

As for eating places in town, theres loads of nice places to eat at the Highcross - if you like Chinese I hear the Real China is nice, and the place round the corner, Almanack comes highly recommended :D Also like Eataway by the bus station. (Chinese) Dont know about Italian but am taking OH to Timo's in Stoneygate as a surprise for his 40th in a couple of weeks.

I hear it comes very highly recommended but not cheap - suspect my debit card will be crying for mercy by the time we've finished eating :rotfl:
