Hi there
I had a very embarrasing moment with my partners 11 year old daughter, i have only known her for 6 weeks or so and we where getting on great, the other day we had been to the movies and shopping and where on our way home driving, she was jiggling around and i said do you need the toilet and she said no, 5 mins later she is sitting on her foot looking uncomfortable and i said are you sure you dont need to go to the toilet and she said only a bit I can hold on, i said are you sure and she said yes, home was only 5 mins away anyway to cut a long story short we get home she flys out the car holding herself and while we are getting inside wets her pants all over the front door, I feel so bad cause she was so upset, I said dont worry it doesnt matter etc, but she has hardly talked to me since and is very weird around me it has been nearly a week, what should I do, i havent told her Dad cause I didnt want to embarrass her more any advice????) thanks

Forget about it and never mention it again. The poor child is embarrassed to the core.0

I don't see the dilemma here- you don't need to 'do' anything except never mention it to her again.
If it were a reccurring accident then I could see the need to discuss it, but as it seems to be a one off I would save her the embarrassment. If you tell her Dad she is only going to get even more 'weird' around you.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. check the story she tells the partner.0

If you feel you could, a gentle mention that if she was embarrassed about 'something' then she needn't worry, you won't tell her Dad adn then say nothing else on the subject might help.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Learn to stop the car and let her go to the toilet ?0

I agree wholeheartedly with the "forget and and never mention it again" advice; I feel for the poor kid.
I would mention it to her Dad though - on the strict instructions that she's never to know that you told him. Her Dad has probably noticed that she's been acting oddly around you, and the innocent explanation might put his mind at rest.0 -
I'd say 'don't worry about that thing the other day - it happened to me once - i even knew someone who would get up in the middle of the night if he was staying in other people's houses and pee in the wardrobe much to the horror of the people he was staying with - worse things happen. Now, do you want breakfast/lunch/a teacake?'If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Next time a kid looks like they need to go to the loo - just tell them to go.
And as other posters have said - never mention it again - to her or to anyone else."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Say nothing about it to her or her dad and just carry on acting normally. Hopefully her embarrassment will pass with time.0

She did ask her twice and she said she could wait. Most people would probably think that an eleven year old but usually know when they could hold on and when they urgently need to go. It would be different if it was a 3 or 4 year old who would be far more likely to wet themselves if they had to wait.0
