Best fuel points cards

Hi All

With the rising fuel costs and my almost daily fill ups I thought I'd have a look to see what the best points cards out there are! I'm currenty using alsorts of stations but thought it would make sense to use just the one.

Does anyone have any ideas which is best? Tesco club card? Nectar? Shell? etc.

Thanks

Gareth

Ive got a sainsburys cc that gives me double nectar points on js petrol, food shopping and i think points on other shopping but cant be sure

oh sorry just re read the post and i se you werentt refereing to cc but more points cards, well i have tesco, nectar and shell, i got the shell card as in the next town the shell petrol was cheap so thought since i go there at least once a week for the cinema i could fill up and get points

do you not shop at tesco or sainsburys(in store or online) as you could get 1 and get points on shopping

OP it depends what pfs are close by to you,

I think Morrisons is now one of the best (but they pay out in a store £5 voucher once you have reached a certain number of points) - I fill up there with my AMEX card which then gives me Morrisons points as well as points on my AMEX credit card.

I used to use Tescos until they cut down and now even paying on my Clubcard Plus card (esp now they have decreased the value of rewards) - its still not as good as the Morrisons points card.

    Brillant, thanks guys!

Just to make things slightly clearer, I do around 1000 miles a week so seem to be at a station almost every day so distance isn't an issue. Also because of the amount of fuel I use I'm supplied with a fuel card as part of my job.

I was using Tesco club card all the time but they wrote recently to say they are cutting them down so I thought it might be a good time to switch.

    Thanks again

it depends which card gets you the most points and what you can do with the points, eg shell card you can get a free tank with so many points but sainsburys you can use the points on petrol but you can use them on food shopping and to buy stuff just like you can with the clubcard rewards. If you do most of your shopping at a morrisons then get 1 of they're cards but you say you drive alot of miles so when you need to fill up how will you guarantee you will stop at a morrisons pfs (but i guess you would fill up when you see 1 and your tank is a third full for example)

Depending on what fuel card you have, you might not be able to collect the loyalty card points at morrisons
  • I'm on Shell most of the time so use the Shell points card... Set up for petrol vouchers. IRC 500Points is a £2.50voucher and its a litre a point...

Points card isnt accepted with my work fuel card at Shell though :-(

Most of them seem pretty poor nowadays though..

Which fuel card do you have? I have an Allstar (Arval) card and I can use my Shell V-Power points card with it. In my last job I had a Total card and again, could collect V-Power points.

I use them to fill up my personal car, or alternatively my company has a mechanism on the mileage sheets where you can declare any non-fuel-card payments you made and these are used to reduce your personal mileage salary deduction.
  • I've had all manor of fuel cards over the years and been able to collect points on them.... Shell Texaco WEOU as it were... Depends on the account you hold I think and how its set up.

Now onKeyfuels IRC although it gets used rarely... we'd pay fixed price over the week which was usually or has been at least 2-3p litre under the pump price so I guess thats where the points go...... We buy in bulk now though and have 2 tanks in the yard. Still works out not that far off pump price... and still no points.

I had a card when I was based in London doing UK Multidrop 10 years ago... We used to fill up at BPs as back then you'd collect points and they'd be for Argos..... Used to cover Xmas presents a treat..
