Wireless Internet connection Probs with Comp settings?

Just spent 30 hr on the phone to orange trying to get my livebox to connect to the internet with a wireless connecton. Went through a multitude of checks and setting etc.and eventually got it working.
HOWEVER as soon as i turned my laptop off and back on the connection is lost. I have a Dell laptop and a dell 'Network Assistant' keeps popping up to tell me there is a network problem. So i can only assume it is a setting via the Network Assistant which is causing my problem. I have tried going thru the help on this 'assistant; but it appears to only find wired connections and does not even list the wireless livebox as an appliaction?
N.B i did have wireless workign fine on my laptop but then it lost connection - the network assistant popped up to tell me so one day out of the blue - and since then i've been able to re-connect?
If anyone else has experienced this problem or solved it - it would be great to hear from you.
P.S The laptop went back to dell recently after the memory failed so I am unlikely to have a system restore point - back to when the connection was working.
