Will XBox 360 games work on regular XBox?

Sorry for my ignorance, but please can someone answer the question above for me?
I got one of the megabargain XBox console packages for £10 in Boots a while back and have been saving it for my boys for Xmas. I know it is not the 'latest thing' but they have not had any console at all before, so I think they will be v. pleased with it. My hubby and I don't have any experience at all with these things as yet.
I want to see if I can get Lego Star Wars for them and wondered if the 360 version will work.

Fraid not. The Xbox 360 is backwards compatible for most games AFAIK, meaning that it will play Xbox games, but the same isn't true the other way round.0

Lego Star Wars and Lego Star Wars II games are both available on the original xbox. A lot of games released on the xbox 360 are also released on the xbox and are generally cheaper as well.0

they wont work purely for the fact that the 360 is a next gen console and the xbox isnt also so the games fro the 360 are going to be a higher spec or require more power(not actually power but u know what i mean) to runNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
be careful! they are only backwards compatible if you have the hard drive added on to itbingo_bango wrote:Fraid not. You need the hard drive (which is worth getting anyway!), but even then not all games will run on the 360.
Microsoft have published a list and info on compatability here: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/backwardcompatabilityfaq.htm

The normal xbox games will only work on a 360 if A; you have a hard as previously stated and B: if the game you want to play is in microsofts compatibility list which is here

So if i buy the extra version and not the core it will work?
No you need the hard drive which comes with the premium pack, you can buy the hard drive separate but its cheaper if you buy a premium packNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
