Bicycle Insurance

Can anyone advise on Bicycle Insurance. I am looking for affordable cover for a Vintage Bicycle with a relatively low (£200) monetary value but a high sentimental value! I have recently had a bike stolen and regrettably did not have it insured. Aside from the expense of replacing it an insurance policy may have made me feel a little better about the loss.
I do not have contents insurance on my house and I was wondering if this was the best way to proceed as presumably the bike would be covered on this?
This leads to the question, if I get cover via household insurance would the bike be covered from theft if locked somewhere other than my property?
I am completely new to the area of Insurance so any advice/experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

The best advice anyone can give you is get some contents insurance and add it to that.
Ask about it being locked away other than in your house.
Watch for the excess on your insurance, it needs to be just £50 or so if you want it to cover something thats worth £200.
Sentimentality cannot be insured.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Insurance can only compensate you financially so if it's something you had a great attachment to then it would be worth investing in the best security devices that you can afford.
If it's unique, I would advise taking pictures, so you can prove it's worth in the event of a claim.I do not have contents insurance on my house and I was wondering if this was the best way to proceed as presumably the bike would be covered on this?
You really should consider contents insurance.
In the event of a fire of flood it's possible to loose ALL your contents. Bicycle cover is sometimes optional and there are limits, but yes you can have it included in a contents policy.
You could also insure your bicycle standalone but I think you should seriously consider contents insurance. This leads to the question, if I get cover via household insurance would the bike be covered from theft if locked somewhere other than my property?
Generally the conditions are for it to be locked to a fixed structure (so a cycle rack, metal railings).
Generally you would not be insured if you leave it unlocked.
If it's valuable to you then preventing theft is also important as well as insurance, so invest in whatever security you can afford or find somewhere secure to leave it (at my place of work, some people take bicycles indoors).0
