Life after ESA

While recovering on a back-to-work programme I have been on ESA + housing benefit. I used to be very busy self-employed gardener but lost most of the contracts.

I won a Tribunal appeal a year ago but another dreaded Atos medical is scheduled for Wednesday. I still have problems which limit what I can do, but I do not think I will pass the threshold.

What happens after ESA ?

Even if I was fully fit again it has not been easy finding replacement contracts. If interest rates go up and I lose the housing benefit I will be in real trouble.

Do you mean SMI (rather than housing benefit) as home owners who get hit with interest rate rises can't receive HB?

Can't answer your specific questions but the Shelter website has good information for home owners struggling to pay their mortgage.
  • After ESA usually comes JSA whereby the JC will gladly help you look for a suitable job.

If you cant get back into gardening try something different that wont agrivate any illness.

Obviously you may not get the ideal job, but hey! a job's a job I guess
