If you only have a provisional licence, then you can't be using it regularly to get to and from work or anywhere can you (unless you have someone with you)?
So it's just the pain of waiting until your car is repaired so you can continue to carry on learning I would have thought?Indecision is the key to flexibility

Could you not maybe use your Mums car then get her to submit expenses of a certain amount per mile - a bit like when an employee claims money from an employer for travelling expenses.
Would you not be able to use the bus? What happens if your Mum isnt able to go with you to college?
Is your car a write off or is it just getting repaired?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
After an accident you have a duty to minimise your losses. If there is a bus service available, it is not unreasonable for them to expect you to use it. Asking for taxis is taking the proverbial and is not a reasonable request unless you can prove you have a disability that prevents you using the bus.
Even if you were to use your mum's car, you will need to show that the expenses incurred were greater that if you had been using your own car.0 -
The other normal option would be to put in a claim for loss of use of the vehicle which is typically £10 per day
Other than that it is a case of either claiming transport costs at cost price (by providing receipts/ tickets) but as Bossyboots says, you have a legal obligation to mitigate your losses and for a 17 yo it would not be considered unreasonable to expect them to get a bus rather than a taxi just to get to college... it is obviously different to a single parent with 5 kids who needs to go to the supermarket 5 miles away where there is no direct bus.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
