We have the BT 150 and it's fab!
Have used it almost every day since May 2009 when our little one was born and it hasn't let us down yet.
Crystal clear and the other features on it are great.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I got a free 7 year old Tomy baby monitor. It displays the temperature, you can hear baby, and it has a light display showing the level of noise coming from the room.
After one night, listening to baby sleep noise drove me mad, so I turned it off, and have slept better since! If DS wants something, he cries loud enough and it wakes me up!
I now keep it on silent so I can monitor the temperature!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
We've got the tommee tippee one with the breathing monitor pad and can honestly say we love it. It doesn't make us overcautious, in fact the very opposite.
it was a sleep saver in the early weeks with our first. We didn't have to sit up all night watching him breathe, we could just put our faith in technology. Yes it takes a bit of getting used to, we would set it off everytime we picked him up for a feed / change but you get used to it. It has never gone off on its own so we can now trust that if it does it will be for a genuine reason.
After a while you get used to their noises and stop jumping up to check them plus you can always turn it off if you plan to use CIO.
I'd say do whatever you need to do to get through those first tiring weeks.
Good luck!
i agree with this comment, saved us lots of stress when first brought baby back, i never had trouble sleeping unlike some of my friends who didnt have sensor. i find it makes controlled crying easier as well.:j0 -
We used a tomy one.
The good:-
It had a silent setting (with blinky lights that illuminate when picking up noise) which was great for when the TV was on.
A vibrate facility (great for when he was napping and one of us was on the phone).
Digital so no interference.
Room thermometer reported back to mobile "parent" unit.
Talk back (great for, i need a drink etc when reading).
It also had a night light, which was great for rummaging about for lost dummies (why do babies throw dummies around the room when asleep btw?).
The night light was blue (which i found kind of cool)...
The bad:-
Parent units battery life (rechargeable from base unit) was utterly pants after about 3 months.
As a first time parent they make you somewhat paranoid.
Overall it did a good job and as a reward is now gathering dust somewhere in the garage.0 -
another fan of the BT 150. Mine's been great
Its usually on offer at Amazon. currently £48.95 instead of £69.99 and well worth it.0 -
BT150 here as well!! I think it is much better than the Phillips one we had for my son 5 years ago. Very clear reception, no interference, couldn't recommend it highly enough:D0

Thanks everyone, I'm awaiting delivery of a BT150 sometime in the week x0

I had the BT 150 too and agree it is fab. After about 15months of use the batteries didn't last as long on the parent unit (ie when you are carrying it round the house the battery only lasted 4 hours instead of the 12+ it had when new) but I just put in new rechargeable batteries and it was good as new.0

Hi I've just bought a Tommy Tippee one with monitor pad. It appears to be just motion sensor though, and will go off every 20 seconds if no movement detected. Is yours the same one? Thanks.
