ADOBE flash player not installing

On certain sites I get a note saying I need to install Flash player. When I search in Programs I can see that I have downloaded it. Can anyone tell me how to install it or why it may not have installed automatically. On the Adobe page the amount of information is formidable.

If this seems a silly question I'm sorry. I have realised that I will never be a techie.

    It could be that you have an old version of FlashPlayer installed and the websites require a newer version (I think 10.1 is the latest)?

    You can download/upgrade here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

    Are you using IE or Firefox (or another non IE browser). The issue may be you have the 'wrong' version of Flash installed for the browser you are wanting to use. see here for help with firefox - http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing%20the%20Flash%20Plugin

    first uninstall it as here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html - then install it again
