Any advice please?

Hi all. I am currently receiving maternity allowance of £125 per week, £38 ctc and cb £20.
My mat allowance is due to end at the beginning of April and I have a job to go back to (full or part time-my choice).
The problem I have as well as the cost of child care (I understand that I will get help with that) is the fact that It is going to be extremely difficult to get my partner to work for 6am, take my daughter to nursery get myself to work, pick daughter up and pick partner up again. The logistics of it are extremely difficult and I will be basically working to pay childcare costs.
I don't want to leave my daughter whilst she is still so young either.
Any advice? What are other mums doing in this situation? I don't want to live off benefits but am not sure what to do as we cannot manage on my partners income alone.
Thanks

Work part time and maybe work on a Saturday and have a couple of days off during the week? I know a lot of people that are more financially stable when getting benefits than they would be if they went to work, crazy.
  • Thanks arron, it's so crazy that we would have more money if I didn't go back to work and relied on benefits but I really don't want to do that but I also would rather look after my daughter myself until she starts nursery. Will have a look at what weekend/eve work there is as my office is a M-F 9-5 job.
  • You are in a classic Catch-22

Its great you are willing to work. I am a general mamager in a well known chain of supermarkets, and its policy to accommodate young mums. Larger stores, including mine has a free staff creche. Only customers pay.

You will find that many town halls employ new mums becasue they often have a free (or discounted) staff creche.

Have a head-scratch, see if this route works for you.

    Are you positive about that?
    *SIGH*
    :D
  • Thanks Roy that's really useful info, I'm going to look into that now. DX2-I think so according to the benefits checker but I'm not 100% sure what my salary will be so may have it wrong. I'm not sure about these things as you can see! If I can work I most definitely will anyway.
    Thanks everyone
