Zipcar
Hi,
No response in Insurance section!
I'm thinking of registering with Zipcar as they have a nice range of cars parked near me. I'd have to pay £60 extra on top of the registration as a waver for the insurance excess. If I decided to go with https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/ instead, it would cost me £40. So a saving of £20.
For those who are familar with Zipar or https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/, I'm wondering if I should go with https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/ or do everything with Zipcar, even though it would cost an extra £20, as it may be easier/simpler to have it all with one company (and I don't mind paying extra if it mean less hassle)?
Thanks.

I've used icarhireinsurance for excess insurance on hire cars (I have an annual policy). I've had to make a claim previously and it was all pretty straight forward. I'm not a member of zipcar so don't know specifically about the policy you mention, but if their one for zipcar works in the same way as the hire car policy that I have then it's not really any hassle. When I claimed I just sent them the damage report and proof of payment (credit card statement) and they reimbursed me within a few days. Hope this helps.0

you might save money with icarhireinsurance, but you have to deal with the headaches, ultimately you are responsible for the excess [according to the car hire], and you have to work out all the details with the care hire company, they could just bill your cc anyway, and then you have to spend all that time on the phone getting your money back. getting insurance with the carhire company makes things a lot simpler.
it might be worthwhile if you're a seasoned car renter, and you travel for work and stuff so you have to hire cars in different cities,
but if your reason for getting icarhireinsurance is for general errands in your location, then just buy a car?0
