N power SHOCKER
 I got my bill from n/p today and decided to check my usage as i had an accurate reading to go by.;) Then i logged on to n/p to try and work out how they calculate the first x number of units and the rest at a lower rate.
Shock   they are billing me at standard rate -not online rate--.
Allegedly they are going to call me back today??
Where can I get the tariffs for previous periods to make sure this has not been going on for some time

I didnt know NPower has online accounts? I certainly cant see anything on their website? I am with NPower, and would love to be able to log in to have a look at my bills online.0

I *work* for npower (not in Retail, so perhaps I'm wrong) but I've never heard of an online account...
Catford, can you send through the link you logged in on?Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

Sorry-- I didn't post the details properly-It's sign online, not an online account.--I didn't log on to the account,---I went to the n/p website and looked at the tariffs.
That said, and grovelling done, they were very good and did call me back!
We eventually established that the prices I was looking at are for online 7,which is newbies only!!!!*******liberty!
My thanks to Gavin and Helen who helped me to understand that I was being stitched up.Not their fault,it;s a job!
Needless to say, I am switching today!!!0 -
The title of this thread is 'NPower shocker' but what is the shock?
Perhaps I am missing something but I cannot understand how you are being 'stitched up'. In fact I don't understand what you are complaining about!
What is a '!!!!*******liberty!' The prices on the website? Are they too high?0 -

For info, Scope, I spoke to someone in npower retail who confirmed that this is something the company is working on.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I think the OP's issue (although I agree it's not clear) is that npower offer a cheaper product for new customers.
Standard
first 728 kWh per year 19.540p per kWh
additional kWh per year 9.060p per kWh
Sign Online†
first 728 kWh per year 16.800p per kWh
additional kWh per year 7.590p per kWh
Npower's web site doesn't make it clear how long this is for, so I'm not sure if the problem was
(a) That the OP signed up for this deal and it's now expired or
(b) That the OP signed up normally and now wants the cheaper deal or
(c) That the OP signed up for the online deal and didn't get it.
If it's (a) or (b), then tough luck. If it's (c) then don't switch - complain and get a refund!Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I signed 'online' to Npower - when they sent paperwork was horrified to find they were charging a much higher rate that whay was quoted online. I complained and got nowhere - they are STILL charging me higher rate so I have now changed back to old supplier. NOT HAPPY!!!!0

Thanks - as the OP has thanked you I assume you have given the correct 3 options.
I must admit this growing practice of offering inducements to new customers, and denying similar terms to existing customers is infuriating - a sort of 'reverse' loyalty bonus!
The banks started it with higher interest rates to new customers. I have closed accounts with 2 banks for that reason.0 -

Sorry to state the obvious, but you *are* taking into account that prices have gone up anyway in Oct 2006, I assume?Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I suppose as always, it's a case of clever customers moving elsewhere. It's always worth asking, of course - I find that in some cases I have been able to pay a small admin fee and get put onto the 'new customers' rate.
I think the lack of loyalty schemes in the fuel supply industry is an indicator of just how easy it (isn't) to switch suppliers...Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world
