what laptop to go for?

My friend wants to buy a laptop, she hasn't got a computer but wants this for space saving!! she basically wants it for internet and doing the general stuff on the computer (4 year old daughter to use etc.....) I think dell might be the best place to get one as she wants it to cost around £400 also she would probably like a payment plan? please can you advise what would be the best one to go for as she is asking me and I haven't really a clue!?

Dell and Tesco offer the best prices. Beware of the extras that Dell might want you to have. We recommend our customers buy from DEll or Tesco and come to our shop for the free anti virus/spyware progs to be loaded. We basically set the pc's up and load any internet on for them.

Yes it has a modem built in, which is correct for dial up, it will also take wireless internet if you bought a router. Or broadband aswell.

Ideal product for your friend, exactly what we would recommend for her to buy.

Before going on the net she will need to make sure she is properly protected. Ask her to phone around local shops and see if they offer the same kind of service we do.

We would put openoffice on which is free (saves her buying windows office), also AVG and various anti spyware progs which are also free off the net. There is lost of info on here about free software. Please dont let her buy any more software on top of the £400.

Hubby puts a security and clean up folder on the desktop and advises you run the programmes once a week to stay protected, something like that would help her.

This would cost you £35 in our shop which is too cheap really.
