Webcam reccomendations?

My best friend is moving abroad to work for six months and we were discussing video calling, she has a webcam in her laptop but I don't have one at all, I'd be using my desktop PC.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd prefer something of fairly decent quality. I tried to search for review sites (preferably with demonstration videos) but haven't had much luck.

All mine are built into laptops, but there are quite a few here, and this one has a lot of good reviews for the price

The best one I know is the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 HD for just over £40 - Zeiss lens and 2 Mpixels.
  • Please, Please, Please don't do what I did a couple of weeks ago. I got myself a webcam off Ebay for less than £4 ............. Tried it on my old Fujitsu laptop and got it working Ok. It was a touch slow, so I tried it on the desktop (better spec Ram etc) Could I get it working (people could see me but they couldn't hear me) I spent the best part of a couple of hours going through different menus etc ! But still no joy ! So I went onto the companies website and looked at troubleshooting only to find out that the webcam had NO microphone. What Fun !!!

Woops sorry to hear that David, I actually have a couple of headsets so the camera dealing with sound isn't too important for me but I will definitely read the specifications very carefull before I purchase.
