Census Enumerator Job (Scotland) - INTERVIEW!

Hello everyone!

Well, I've just received an email today inviting me to an interview for the Census Enumerator role on Saturday 29th January. :j

Is anyone else attending this or has anyone already had the interview (it's really a group exercise) and can tell me what happens? I'm a tad nervous

Any help grately appreciated!

Hopefully I might even see some of you there!

  • I did the Census Scotland group interview this week and got the job.

You are placed in a team of 4ish and asked to draw scotland, then place cities on the map, then match quotes to the cities. I dont think it really matters what you get right more hoe you interact with the team.

You are then placed in a bigger team and asked to fill out a abcd questionare regarding what you would put in a time capsule, again there are no right or wrong answers but its improtant that you comunicate well within the team as they are looking for you to convince others that your suggestions are better than theirs.

A nice tip is to suggest that since you only get 30mins to do it that you will keep track of the time. State that you will set your alarm to go of every 10mins as if your team does not finish in time you get 0 points.

    Good Luck

    Hi,
I applied for this role last week and have been invited to the group exercise on Sunday 30th (the day after you guys).

Thanks for the helpful info, Seymour.

I've just replied to confirm I will attend and regret it as I actually have other commitments on that Sunday but am free pretty much any other day - I was contemplating phoning and asking if I could be slotted in another time. I assumed that as there were so many applicants and jobs that it would be inconvenient for them to reorganise me into a different day. Maybe I should have done!!

    Ah well.

Which areas do you all live in? I'm in the west of Edinburgh but my letter is from Edinburgh East. I was just wondering if they matched people to areas or not...? Maybe not!

I attended my interview today! All was as expected but not really sure how I got on...I'm terrible in these situations.

The first exercise (the drawing Scotland map and matching areas and statistics) is 10 mins long and the time capsule one is 30 minutes. They are both really easy to run out of time on with the debating you will have so make sure you keep track of time.

CaroB - I am in Edinburgh East. I don't know what the letter said but the interview was at Ladywell House near Corstorphine - quite a bit away!

Good luck to everyone who is still to have the interview and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
  • Does anyone know when and how do you find out if you have been accepted?

As far as I know we will hear by phone if we've been accepted (I'm not sure if we'll also hear by phone if we've not been accepted), but I'm not sure of the timescale. From reading on here, I think it might be within a week or so of the group exercise...

    Good luck!!
