listing Christmas gifts

I see that ebay are already promoting their Christmas gift sales and I was wondering whether it is late enough now to start targetting the Christmas shoppers?

My thoughts are that if i listed something today for 7 days it would finish on the 15th November, allow say a week to pay and just under a week for buyer to receive the item , that brings us up to say 27th November. Do people actually look that far in advance for small gifts, stocking fillers etc, or should I wait another couple of weeks?

In previous years I've ended up selling these smaller items quite late and then its a rush to get everything out in time, and I live in a state of panic that stuff won't arrive with the buyers before Christmas Eve, on the other hand I don't want to go too early and miss the boat completely.

Last year for instance I was still getting buyers sending me cheques on the 22nd December asking whether I would guarantee the item for Christmas..yeah, they had 2 hopes. Although I did take a chance and ship several items out before payment where buyers seemed to have genuine reasons for paying late.

  • Hi Soo

I listed a few used although excellent condition and boxed childrens toys on Sunday, on auction and BIN, and have already sold 2 on BIN.

I can only assume the items are Christmas gifts.

Well I must be a total freak, I've done all of my christmas shopping already, some of it on ebay. I didn't want to risk something going wrong and having to fly around at the last minute for presents, but maybe I'm too organised.
    Nice to save.
  • Yes, many shoppers are buying Christmas pressies now: even I've started, and I leave most of my shopping till the last minute. Anyone paying by cheque for Xmas stuff on eBay will want to buy well in advance, to allow for postal delays when the cheque is in the mail as well as when the item is sent, plus about a week or so in the middle for the cheque to be banked and to clear. Even customers using Paypal will be buying already.
If you search the words "stocking filler" on eBay, you'll find quite a lot there already.
Vianna, I do think you're a bit of a freak having finished your Christmas shopping already!

Get your bits on ebay! I have nearly finished my xmas shopping - most of it from ebay. Been annoyed at the lack of choice this year!!
