Faulty Electricity Meter, have I overpaid?
Hi
We are with Npower and noticed in December that our economy 7 was coming on at all different times of the day, sometimes at night, but not always.
Anyway after a tussle with Npower and them saying it was more than likely our wiring, they agreed to replace the meter. I have done a meter reading recently (we do every month) and our usage has dropped by 300 units, which is very surprising considering that over Christmas, the kids were home, heating on, Christmas light etc.
I'm just wondering now how I stand, have I overpaid for the last months and can I prove it, also can I claim any overpayments back?
Thanks

If your total usage has dropped, then that's almost certainly because you've used less, not a meter that is switching registries incorrectly.
Fortunately, it appears the supplier didn't actually check so neither of you can prove one way or the other for any fault in accuracy. I say fortunately, as chances are that if your meter was supplying you cheap rate electric during the day rather than the night, then you probably would end up owing the supplier money if they could prove it.
(Things like storage heaters or immersion heaters that are on a low rate only circuit will only come on when you are supplied low rate ... whatever time of the day or night that might be)"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
