Homebase kitchens-your positive &negative experiences please

Hi,

This kitchen isn't in our 'forever' home, we will prob move in 5 or so years, so it's not a problem for us that B&Q and Homebase kitchens may be lower quality that elsewhere. What we saw in store is sufficient for our needs and we were all ready to buy from B&Q today but realised thay don't do a larder unit in the size we need, which causes huge problems for the whole kitchen design and we can't find a solution.

So we're back to looking at Homebase, who do the size we need, but I have read some negative comments about parts often being delivered damaged or missing and it taking weeks to sort out. This is what really puts me off Homebase, but to be fair lots of the comments were several years ago, and I would like to hear from anyone here who has a Homebase kitchen and how did you find the delivery- ie were many bits missing or damaged and how difficult was it to get replacements? Or was your experience unproblematic?
We have our own fitter.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.
Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams :)

I've heard very good things about B&Q, in fact the recent £20,000 quote from a specialist sighted them as a quality competitor, but I dont have 20k for a kitchen so may well try B&Q myself! Wickes, Wren & Howdens are also apparently good quality but depends if you need fitting or can do that/source a fitter yourself. Also not heard good things about Homebase, and will not be investigating that avenue myself.

I am trying to organise our Kitchen at the moment too, so if anyone can advise I'd appreciate it too!

Homebase kitchens are pretty much the same quality as you'd expect from all the sheds. Their customer service however, falls short every time. Their "designers" aren't exactly the best in the world either (if my local Homebase is anything to go by anyhows).

Going by previous posts I have read alot of folk are going down the IKEA route and seem to be happy with them.
Depending on your budget give Kitchen Finesse a try they do Mereway & Schuller kitchens which are the best quality kitchens that I have dealt with (designed kitchens for 10 years) and its a free quote service so nothing to lose.
