Sky installation into a New Build

I have "spoken" to Sky online help who didn't seem to understand my question and spent sometime on hold waiting for sky (and I gave up). I also thought I had already asked this question here (but haven't!!)
Anyway, I am due to move into a new-build shortly that wont have a line installed yet. Do Sky do this installation as BT/Virgin would?? Their online desk says yes but I cannot find anything to suggest this; all I can find is their BB needs to have a BT line already in.
I cannot decide whether to take SKY with me (have TV/Talk/BB) or move to BT with only talk/BB and make do with freeview as it would be less than half I am paying now with a free installation.

Not as such,it's BT Openreach that do the install on behalf of Sky.The builders/developers should have put the internal wiring & any phone sockets into the property & BT's contractors should have ran a drop cable from your home to the BT street cabinet that serves your new home.
A BT Openreach engineer on behalf of Sky should attend the home & connect up the internal cabling to the external drop cabling however you may need to ask him or get the developer to connect up the extension sockets to the NTE-5 master socket.
Virgin cable is installed differently than BT as they will run a drop cable containing the phone & TV connections from their street cabinet to the home & install all the internals.BT/Sky don't do this.
Sky do not have 'engineers' capable of such work.their installers knowledge extends to installing TV & connecting up the phone line via simple phone connections, nothing more.0 -
Thanks very much and I will keep an eye on the extension sockets (dont remember those!)0

When we built our house we had to have BT open reach connect us for phone and broadband (so ended up in a 12 month contract with BT otherwise they wouldnt have done it for free) then you can move to who you want after the 12 months.
We got Sky tv before we got LL and BB and had to pay £25 "activation fee" for having no LL but never had a problem after that.Is a Bipolar bear0 -
Just to add to this, I'm due to move into a new build at the weekend and have contacted BT today to try and arrange connection. I don't want their broadband so was going to have to pay the £120+ connection charge, but Open Reach have horrendous waiting times (the bad weather is still being blamed) and I was given a date of March 22nd, just to get my landline connected.
Just be aware that you may have a bit of a wait.
Sky can connect our TV service immediately though and have said that the lack of a phone line isn't an issue as we're now out of the 1 year contract that we initially took out where it was a requirement to be connected to a phoneline.0 -
I'm in the same boat. Just moved in hoping to get BB installed asap and BT given me the 21st march as the soonest I can get connected.
Seems absolutely ridiculous, wish there was a way round it.
