Socket 370 Motherboard

A pensioner friend of mine has just had her PC die in her. The MB is kaputt. Does anyone know a source for new socket 370 motherboards (other than Ebay)? If I can't find one she'll have to have new CPU + Ram to get it going again.

From Wikipedia the socket 370 is now found on the mini-ITX motherboards.

Here's a link for some prices:

I think it may turn out cheaper to go to ebuyer or dabs or whatever and get all new mb and processor. (In kind of same boat myself and have been researching lately - bewildering choices!)

    Good luck!

I'd agree that you'd get far more value by getting a modern motherboard. I couldn't even find any socket 370 motherboards on ebuyer or dabs (ok there was one dual socket 370 for over £300 on dabs). Also if you get a different form factor (mini-itx) you may have trouble installing it in the same pc case. If you find any original socket 370s you'll porbably be paying a premium on rarity rather than practicallity.

WOW:eek: Price floored me! Will definitely work out cheaper to buy the lot! I'll have to go for something like this:
Asrock K7S41GX+ with onboard VGA £35
    AMD Sempron 3000 Processor £38
    512mb DDR2 533 PC4200 £35
For £108 it'll be a lot better than her old celeron chip anyway.
Thanks for your imput AMD :T

Thanks superscaper. It just seems a shame to have to bin the decent parts when a £30 MB would have got her up and running again.:(

Tell me about it, you wouldn't believe the amount of spare pc bits and pieces I have lying around because it seems a shame to throw them. When I get time I guess I'll ebay them but I doubt it will be worth it. I'm currently looking at upgrading but because athlon xp processors are like gold dust and way overpriced I'll have to change the entire motherboard and hence most of my other components. At least I know what my ebay sales will be going towards ;)
