I'm bumping this thread as I'm a first time buyer too renting in NW10. Early thirties single female and ve paid 5yr of my landlords mortgage

I've been saving for 5yrs and living well below my means but now I want to buy a place for myself but dont know where. I think it'll have to be north of the river from zone 4 outwards. Work is islington but may change soon. My dep is about 55k and considering ppty below 200k for 20yrs. I haven't been to woodford recently but I think it's nice? I'm considering a 2bed so I can have a flatmate??
Suggestions welcome.
Apologies OP, I know you'll be considering school CAs while I'm not.0 -
I lived in Gravesend many years ago and its not that bad (a couple of estates to avoid). Better than most cheap areas of London. Try Higham, a little further out on the train if it worries you.Been away for a while.0

sutton has some of the best schools in the london area. Its zone 5 so season ticket may be costly but the area is generally very good. links to london are excellent and there is a train to victoria that takes 20 mins. There are eight trains an hour to london (four to victoria and four to london bridge) and house prices are not terrible.Proud to be Member of BSC #92Hoping to get debt free again :wall::heart2: working hard to make my daughters proud :heart2:0

hi guys
just want to get some feedback from someone to help me.
We are curently renting and looking to buy our first home. Budget is around 300k. Ideal home would be 3-4 bedroom with a garden and decent schools nearby and a safe area. (pretty sure that's what everyone wants...)
Can someone point to some locations either in london or somewhere in outer counties with reasonable season ticket where we can get on the property ladder.
at the moment we both work in east london but that may change so to be honest as long as home is on a tube line it's ok, or if its on outer counties then preferably comuting into central london (waterloo/london bridge etc)...
i know this is a very generic quesiton but any help is appreciated. thanks very much
Borehamwood is a nice place on the London/Herts borders. Train takes 20 mins to kings cross and fares are pretty cheap too!0 -
Magicgirls's right about sutton in general but reading your wishlist re: quality of life /affordability I'd give Wallington a look-over; good shops (and not too far from Croydon megastore land) and some very good state schools, 3-bed houses with gardens within your budget, zone 5 train to London (Victoria/London Bridge). Not a big area for nightlife though but it's a leafy burb without much crime and might tick a lot of your boxes.
