Can credit on opted out cards affect future credit?

At present, I've one card with a £2k limit and when the balance is paid off, that's it for that one. (Same with my Barclaycard which I've opted out of and it's being reduced quickly)
I don't owe anywhere near that on that card yet it still lists as £2k available credit on my statement and reports.

Therefore, if a credit search is carried out, does the person who did the search see that you've got this amount of credit available or do they get an indicator of the card status?

i.e
Hypothetically, I apply for a card from say Amex.
They see I owe £1000 on 2 cards with available credit of £3500. THat means I'm using 30%ish of the credit yet I could at a moments notice use up that extra £2500. They then decide I've got too much credit and refuse me even though I have no access at all to that credit.

There is no indicator regarding the card status. When a credit search is performed on you, the account appears as a standard credit card with the credit available to you to use - until you've cleared it and the account totally closes, that is :o
