Hi
Can anyone tell me how I can put a free Hit counter on my web page that won't involve using a company who want to advertise on my website?
Thanks

What program are you using to build your pages?0

I don't know if you'll find a free one with no adverts at all.
But I've used the one below, and it did add a small unobtrusive link to the page.

They just send a bit of code which you can place where you want in your page.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
With Frontpage, I just select 'Add Hit Counter'.....0

I would definitely suggest Google Analytics.0

Hit counters' are of dubious use, as they count every single access of your page, including all the search engine robots. Since they are often treated as 'trackers' many of the HOSTS files used (eg MVPS) filter them out, so they won't count visitors who use those. And unless you put them on every single page it is of limited use.
If you have access to your server logs (which you will if you have it on your own hosting servers) then use one of the available analysis tools to show you far more information. I use Analog and Awstats, both excellent tools.0 -
