Hi,

Have just booked a late deal at Minehead Butlins but have sinced heard from friends some bad reports about accomodation. I have booked silver accomodation (room not apartment) and just wondered if anyone has been recently that could perhaps put my mind at rest?

I went to skegness 2 years ago and their rooms were great..but now im worried lol

butlins are usually pretty good if you are unhappy with your unit and will either offer you something else at check in or even upgrade you for free...dont worry too much and have a great time.

if all else fails just spend your days get wrinkley in there swimming pool...been quoted best in the south west..

Bless you for replying! The thing is, i dont think that i could get an upgrade as its one of these adult only weekends that have nearly sold out now! Can anyone else advise me pls if you have recently been? I d be grateful for any feedback.

we done butlins in minehead in april this year with some friends and young children on tow...we opted for a silver apartment and was very disapointed with the unit they offered us... the windows were dirty...cobwebs every where and it was small dark and as well as not much privacy with the other units as it shared an external door through a small corridoor....we complained and was promised it would be cleaned for us but we wouldnt have it as we had small children and needed to unpack and change babies etc...
was told at first they were fully book unlikely they had anything suitable...i persisted and eventually we got an upgraded gold apartment for free as that was all they had suitable....

so sometimes its better if they are full as your likely to get top end accom.
but like i said if that fails they are quite accomodating and will put right anything you are not happy about.

one of the other party that was with us went green eyed after we got upgraded and went out of her way to get upgraded too and they did...and there was nothing in particularly wrong with her room either!!

ive been to butlins a least one weekend every year for the past 5 and this was the only time i have had to complain about the accom...but then again it was the first time i booked an apartment rather then a room so that could be why! i ve never had to complain about there silver bedrooms...and always bring my own pillows regardless.

hellofreebies is right - the silver accommodation is basically the ye olde worlde original chalets from the days of Billy Butlin - slightly spruced up.

If you can afford the upgrade to Gold, it's probably worth paying extra.

Last Xmas, I stayed in the Silver and had a big flood - because a pipe burst. But hey, these things do happen from time to time.

Couldn't fault Butlins for customer service - they moved us into the Gold Accommodation straight away - from no star to 3 star.

hi bubbles i went to minehead a month ago we had silver apt not room as we find them too small for 6 of us it was fantastic we love it there if you get chance go to chedder for the day my mum came this time and loved it she is 72 and would never go as she said it was not her thing but she would now go again the pool is also fantastic

Hi,

We stayed in a silver apartment at Minehead in september - the accommodation was terrible. Dirty, no microwave, oven not working, freezer not working etc - and with two small children it was a bit stressful. We went home early. I would never go back.

I have had to stay at Butlins Minehead now on three occasions due to my husband being a marillion fan and the conventions being booked there.

I have stayed in the bottom grade rooms, the next one up and on the last occasion, the deluxe. I was very pleased with the deluxe, I must say. Anything else and you couldnt pay me to stay in there.

You get what you pay for. Its fantastic for children. The food is very average and ok for a weekend.

The main issue I had was the other guests. All the Marillion fans behaved impecably, but the general public were also allowed to stay the same weekend. The noise throughout the night was appalling. the first stay, we had children aged between 10 and 15 playing knock door run. The walls were so thin it sounded like they were in our room. We asked to move and couldnt fault the customer service, but the place we were moved to was just as bad. The language being used by these reprobates was not what I wanted my five year old to hear.

we went last year,my family went for the basic apartment and it was fine,very clean & warm, the heating / oven / shower etc all working as they should

my sister went for the silver room and whilst it was lovely and clean and newly decorated it was a bit on the small side for them and their son

if they place you somewhere you arent happy with ,cleanliness or whatever ,request to be movedits like everywhere you get good and bad reports ?! you will have to find out for yourself

have a nice time
