Morrisons - free item not free

Options
In Morrisons, there is an offer. Buy 2 Collection 2000 cosmetics and get a free £2.99 nail polish.
I asked first at the checkout if the offer had worked when she scanned them. Yes, she said.
Checked my receipt and they had only took £1.79 off.

When I went to customer services, there was a chap who was charged for a bog off item (smoothie) He was told the particular flavour wasn't in the offer. She said she would get the manager to check but he said leave it.
But he was sure he was right, as he had bought a few of the same last week.

Anyway. She didn't want to give me my money back! Tried to tell me it was a "different polish" I had checked again and I was right

It makes you wonder how many of their offers don't work, as loads of people don't bother to check!

You want to have a look for threads in the forum from before christmas when loads of offers were messed up and people were in massive queues at CS for refunds.

Can't say any of the other big supermarkets are any better. Always check you receipts before leaving and make a note of offers as you go around. This is where shopping from a list helps rather than a huge pile of offers you can't keep track of I have my list and just a few too good to miss offers to check as they go through.

If it happens often I would report them to TS, they don't like the TS man coming for a nosey around.

My local Morrisons are always putting the promotional signs under the wrong products, but quite often ones that are close enough that if you don't read them carefully you can be duped. For example they will put 'Kitkats BOGOF' against a pile of milk chocolate Kitkats, but if you read carefully (the tiny print at the bottom), the sign actually states, 'orange and mint varieties', or something similar. Trouble is by the time you have bought and paid for your groceries and realised you have been charged full price, 9 times out of 10 you can't be bothered to queue at CS and then wait while they go and check the shelves etc, so you let it go.

It happens often enough, that I'm beginning to think it's a cynical marketing ploy rather than an honest mistake. I wonder how much extra people spend that they werent intending to due to things like this. Multiply that by the amount of customers Morrisons has each day and they must be raking it in due to these 'mistakes'.

  • The 2 or 3 Morrisons I use normally have all their special offers at aisle ends so they are easy to see.
