I soooo wish I had come on here and posted straight away yesterday!!!
You have ALL boosted my confidence and made me feel great (and normal:rotfl:)!
Roll on Monday so I can accept, then roll on the following Monday for my first day!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! xx :beer:0 -
If it's any consolation Mandrose, I was offered a job on Thursday and instead of celebrating spent last night in tears! I'm nervous too, like you! I think part of it is that it isn't quite what I want to do although I feel silly and selfish for thinking this as I know it's hard to find any kind of job at the moment. Good luck and make sure you do go out and celebrate! x :beer:Sealed Pot Challenge Number 1225

Congratulation to you Absinthe Fairy!
I'm not sure myself if a job that ticks every box is out there at the moment, maybe because I loved my old job and compare everything to that!
Lets be nervous together and get over the hurdle of the first day - give it a couple of weeks and I'm sure we will both be wondering why we made all the fuss!
I'm now having two celebrations, one on Friday and another on Saturday, as it was the only way all my friends could make it! Its a hard life, lol! :beer:0 -
Congratulations. I am in exactly the same boat. After working for a large high street bank for the past 21 years, I have taken voluntary redundancy. I finished 2 weeks ago and I have had the last 2 weeks off, playing housewife!
Since September I have applied for between 45 & 50 jobs and had only 4 interviews. I have been successful in one of them and I start work this Monday. It's slightly more hours and almost half the salary that I was on previously. I now have to travel 30 minutes (my old job was on my doorstep) and parking is an issue. However, it is a lovely job, with regular Monday to Friday and every bank holiday off. My old job was good money because had to work 12 hour day & night shifts, bank holidays and weekends.
I have been able to take a drop in salary because I had such a good redundancy package........and I have got my nights and weekends back. BLISS!!! I am also a little apprehensive as my old place was virtually the only job I've ever known so it's a huge change for me. I am looking forward to my new job. I didn't like the last few years where I was but I couldn't just walk away from a potential package. It has (hopefully) all worked out for the best. Good luck to you x0 -
Congratulations! It's completely normal to feel like that, especially considering you have been in your previous position as long as you have. When I was starting my job I was terrified! I'm sure you will do great!0

Yes, congratulations Lisaspice! Maybe we worked for the same bank!
Luckily I had a good enough redundancy package to live off for a year if needed! Its nice to know that I didn't have to use it all up though!
I knew I would be nervous about starting a new job but was completely taken aback by how terrified I was! After getting so much encouragement on here, I spoke to my fantastic friends and admitted to them how I was feeling and they have ALL been really excited for me, which in turn has boosted my confidence! I now can't wait for Monday to come, so I can ask if they still want me, then I can formally accept!
Again, good luck to everyone! x0 -
congratulations im sure you will be fine0
