Redundancy JS, WTC and Carers Allowance

My wife was told on Friday that Monday would be her last day at work - she has been added to the hundreds of thousands made redundant - there are NO suitable jobs around for her......
She worked 20 hours per week on about £7 per hour - and had worked for the company for just over 2 years - so we assume that she is not entitled to any redundancy pay ?
We relied on her income - so are worried about the future
We claim WTC on my 16 hours per week and my wifes 20 hours (I am disabled) - so it appears that we will lose not only my wifes £140 per week (gross) - but also WTC (£250 per month)
So We are looking at JS (for 6 months for her)- If the tax year allows - plus possible Carers Allowance - does Carers Allowance count as income - to allow us to continue claimiing WTC ?
Any bright ideas welcome ?

as you are disabled you will still be able to claim wtc.
if you receive dla at middle or higher you will also be able to claim carers allowance (or your wife will)
what work did she do before her current job? as NI contributions need to have been paid in the relevant tax years for her to be eligable.
please note that if she claims carer's she has to care for at least 35 hours a week.
to claim job seekers she'd have to be available for full time employment. i see there could be a bit of a contradiction occuring.
also you are not allowed to earn over £100 a week and claim carer's allowance.0 -
You assume wrongly . She is entitled to redundancy pay, 1 weeks pay for each full years work therefore she is entitled to 2 weeks redundancy pay. If she is over 41 years of age it goes up to 1.5 weeks for each full year worked, therefore 3 weeks pay
Plus any accrued holiday.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Not sure on that one. She's probably better of just claiming the carers allowance.0

So you are saying that my 16 hours are enough to continue with WTC independant of my wifes (now) zero hours ?
I was of the belief that combined had to be at least 30 hours ??
Also does savings have any effect on Carers Allowance ?
ie) Is there a difference between CA(C) and a CA(IR)
You also state YOU are not allowed to earn over £100 per week - do you mean ME or my wife ?0 -

Savings don't affect CA. All they care about is the amount of hours (at least 35) someone cares for and that they earn under £100 per week.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
