I think some companies are now offering a cheaper home insurance "add on" that you have to have when buying one of these due to their propensity to catch fire

Ah, not the sort of offer you wanted? :o
  • Ah bummer!! Ok what about any other healthy eating fryers. I can't stand using ours so want one that uses as little oil as possible?

    Load of cobblers!

That was about 3 years ago and they sorted it.

Have one myself, best kitchen appliance I have ever bought. Used everyday ( near enough), makes fab roasties in 30 mins, great chips in 25 mins, sausages take about 20 mins, my sister has one and they do curries, chicken portions everything in it. She lets her husband cook in it, she never cooks now. Use olive oil in it, instead of veg oil. Is healthier and doesnt leave a scummy mark around the sides.

My 83 year old mum has one and loves it too, hers is 2 years old and not one problem.

Shop around, I bought mine 12 months ago on amazon, think it was £117 inc delivery. Black ones are more expensive as new colour.

Dont be put off by scaremongerers.
I totally recommend it and also recommend Induction hobs too ! best thing since sliced bread !

Costco have these just over £100 but I can't remember full price. I'll check next time I go in!

    UPDATED:
    Costco £119.75 approx.

    As for the Actifry :

    £122.99 at "home and cook"
    - £18.45 (use code AIR15)
    = £104.54

    - [approx] £5 cashback http://www.topcashback.co.uk/home_and_cook/

so just under £100 delivered after cashback.

We love our Actifry - one of the best things we ever bought. I was unsure on the first attempt of chips but after that.... and the roasts potatoes are the best I've ever had.

They may be expensive but you save money on oil. I too only use olive oil in it.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

I had an Actifry.....nice gadget but lasted less than two years....(I used it max once a week!!!).....I was constantly aware of the fact it had the potential to go on fire.
I won't be replacing even though I liked it as it just didn't last and was expensive!
  • I had one for almost 3 years, used it loads as my son loves chips! blew up 2 weeks ago, hoping to save enough on GC buy another one. I read all of the stories and i would not let them put you off buying one, just don't leave it unattended, as when it went bang it did it with style, flames n all!!!!

My mom got one about 3 yrs ago from currys and it was £99. i got mine 18 months ago and paid £105, best gadget ive ever bought. my kids prefer the taste of the chips and you can cook oven chips in it (dont use any oil), much nicer than in the oven too.
