santander card - for Students?

Options
Hi

I was looking at the santander card, Now when I going to fill in the applictaions. In the employment box, as I am a student I would select this. But they have NOT Employed -Student option.

Therefore is this going to decline the application? As I know that if you are currently unemployed then on one will give you credit and you have wasted a credit search.

I don't want to apply here if this will be an auto decline, then Ive stamped my credit file with a search, So no point in applying.

Has anyother student selected this option and been successful?

Thanks

  • Why not ask your bank for a card or a student card if an option? More chance of getting one.
  • Hi

As it states Not Employed-student, you said

It might mean a refusal. due to the Not employed being written.

I know from other store cards from santander, Topshop etc, It states on the criteira that you have to be in employment minium 16 hours a week. Therefore if you were to do this application as a student, it will be a refusal. I am assuming the same in this case that
Santander dont want people wih student employment status due to not having a stable income to that of an employed person.

    Hopes this helps

Maybe someone else could whom is a studnet that applied for this can can help if they got declined or not.

If you currently bank with Santander it may be worth considering ditching and switching. Not least because they are by far and away the worst bank in the UK with a plethora of repeat problems you will no doubt one day fall victim to, but also because they don't offer Student credit cards.

Natwest & Lloyds TSB do, though. They expect you to be unemployed / work few hours when applying for their student credit card, but you do need to bank with them, too.

    Good luck!

  • If you do hold part time employments I believe it is legally correct for you to say that you are "Part Time Employed" or if there isn't such an option, "Employed", and not that you're a student.
