redundancy JS and WTC

My wife was told on Friday that Monday would be her last day at work - she has been added to the hundreds of thousands made redundant - there are NO suitable jobs around for her......

She worked 20 hours per week on about £7 per hour - and had worked for the company for just over 2 years - so we assume that she is not entitled to any redundancy pay ?

We relied on her income - so are worried about the future
We claim WTC on my 16 hours per week and my wifes 20 hours (I am disabled) - so it appears that we will lose not only my wifes £140 per week (gross) - but also WTC (£250 per month)
So We are looking at JS (for 6 months for her) plus possible Carers Allowance - does Carers Allowance count as income - to allow us to continue claimiing WTC ?
Any bright ideas welcome ?
