What am I looking for when buying new carpet??

the only 'drawback' to buying a good 80/20 carpet, which will cost you more, is that you will get fed up with it long before it wears out - 5-7 years down the line you'll want to revamp your room but if your good carpet is barely worn its hard to justify ripping it up because you don't like the colour anymore - unless the person buying the carpet is loaded of course!! - our local independant carpet shop is brill & I've had some great carpets, usually some sort of 'twist' that have been hard-wearing but not cost the earth & look good0

Completely agree, I prefer to pay less and change it every 7 to 10 years.
We went carpet shopping for our lounge recently, I knew what I wanted and the first one I saw was perfect, downside was it was almost £30 a Sq Mtr:eek: I asked if they had the same colour in a lower wool content and we ended up paying less than £10 a SQ Mtr including fitting. I took my shoes off and walked on the samples so don't be afraid to try before you buy! we used an independant shop as we have experienced the big boys before and we wern't impressed.0
