If MBNA still process their mail through Chester or Widnes, I am pretty confident to say that they may well be genuinely having delays with their mail.
I received a letter from HMRC last week, that had been posted early in December. I got two Christmas cards this week that had been posted in mid December. Mail that I'm sending is seriously delayed too. Royal Mail, certainly in Cheshire, are still having problems. (incidentally there was an item about this on our local tv news on Thursday- RM strenuously denying and insisting that all their deliveries are now back to normal).

OK so sounds genuine then. The pile of sacks were probably at RM rather than heaped up on MBNA's doorstep!

Thanks for all the replys, NO i have not got a debit card and my building soicety will let me make a Bank transfer at the cost of £50. (as they say they are not a bank) Which i refuse to pay- My statement took 3 days to get to me but my payment posted first class takes longer to get to them..?

I used to have two weeks to make a payment from when my statement was drawn up to me making a payment to them, then it went down to a week, i have made a complaint to them over the internet and copied the form and copied the the thank you form after i sent my complaint they said i would get a duplicate form sent to my email address i still have yet to recieve this, i have posted the payment by special delivery".As i do not trust them at all, and i would advise no one else to do either.
When i have called them they just laugh and are rude. i do realise i am just a number to them and thats that. And they say go in to the co-op and make a payment (but as they well know you can not) you have to have an account with the co-op.
  • The postal payment address for MBNA is in Widnes and that area was badly affected by the weather. Adding into the mix it was Christmas and the Royal Mail always run slower during this period MBNA have done nothing wrong.

I am not saying this beacause I work for them but when you send off your cheque they would have no idea you had put in a PPI claim they just dont have that kind of information.

If you call them up most representives are saying they will halve all fees incurred.

Wrong. The MBNA CC account is with the Co-op, hence you can pay at a branch of the Co-op because their account is the Co-op. Not that useful though because there are so few branches of the Coop bank; if you do not have a Co-op branch near you ask MBNA if you can use another bank's branch, they have arrangements with the Post Office and maybe Santander to pay there if you have a Coop account.

Or - have you asked if your BSoc will let you pay using a cheque and the CC paying in slip? If so there will not be a £50 fee for this.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I'm sure there's a perfectly obvious answer to this, but why don't you just open a bank account and use that to receive your money? You would then have a debit card and could make payments over the telephone. You'd most likely have online access to your account too and could therefore make payments via BACS/Faster Payments at no charge. You could also get a direct debit setup.

Any money left over could be transferred into your BSoc account - again for free. Could help you avoid this in the future.

In the meantime, have you tried talking nicely to MBNA? That's got to be worth a go - I understand that they're generally very understanding and frequently refund the charges if it is the first occurrence.
