Deefinitely check out the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) of any properties you're interested in, especially if some have electric heating.
Our flat is rated C - 79, and is cheap to heat and always warm. My previous property wasn't rated (moved in many years ago), but cost 4 times as much as I pay now and was never warm.
I would agree that you should consider 1 bed properties. You might find one with a large hall or kitchen that your partner could use for drawing in. Good luck!0 -
For your first rental, first rental together, in today's market, you should be asking how much rent you can afford on £14k, in case you lose your job.
Look up the local LHA rate and see how much a 1-bed place is on there, as that'll give you an idea of the competition you're up against from unemployed people. Aim to spend no more than that.0
