Well this is the one I like best after all my seraching.. however for the 4 of us we are talking around the 4000.00 mark depending on which date and thats for 7 nights with no add on for a short stay before or after the cruise.

We are looking at around the 2300.00 mark all inclusive if we went on a thomsons around the med cruise...

Is Royal caribbean really worth the difference?

Youre coomparing a Med cruise with a Caribbean cruise.....additional airfare is most of the cost differential.

You dont say whether its one cabin or two, inside or outside or balcony, or what date you want. Post some details and I'll see what alternatives I can find for a "nice cruise".

  • I got this cruise really cheap and it was all inclusive. Watched England lose to Argentina whilst passing Cuba. There was a procession of young girls with jugs of beer topping your glass up all afternoon, but when we lost everyone disappeared. Always remember the Spanish commentary and "Graham Lesox"

Going places have given me the following quote on it over the phone.

2 adults and 2 children on deck 10 with bunks that fold down over our bed on an inside cabin on 23rd September 07. £3588.00

Or same date but in a balcony cabin with 4 floored beds on deck 10 for 3908.99.

Both are for 7 nights on the ship and destinations to the above link. I have not asked them for the extra cost in staying in florida for a few nights yet as we can only really spend a max of 4000.00 and thats really pushing it a lot. but they did stay the price included tips.

Also not sure about the weather at that time of year if anyone can advise.

    Is that a good deal?

You should try one of the cruise specialists for this type of holiday not the high street sales team.
try gills, liverpoool or ist for cruise
    https://www.gillscruise.com
    https://www.1st4cruising.com
    https://www.liverpoolcruiseclub.co.uk
how about doing DIY and booking flights, car hire and hotel all seperatly?
These are very good for DIY cruise deals https://www.vacationstogo.co.uk
for 4K you should easy get 1 week Florida and 1 week cruise.
Be careful when you cruise the Caribbean , July to October the cruises can change at last minute due to storms or Hurricans.
If its your first cruise why not do the med on a cheapy ....you might hate cruising then spending 4K would be such a waste.
If you go for the RC one opt out of the tips and sort your own they charge a fortune I think its about 15 USD pp per day even kids
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • There will be very few children on a cruise at that time of year as few people take their kids out of school at the start of the school year. You may find that the head at your kids school will not be very keen either. Island cruises are offering free kids places at the moment including july and august but that is to the med.
  • We like to cruise every year.

We can only do this by using a US travel agent.

We get our cruise price from http://www.mycruisevalue.com/v3/index.asp or http://www.bestpricecruises.com/ . Your cruise on this site works out at £1800. That leaves you a lot for flights hotels and transfers.

Also if you book through these companies, you pay a deposit now and the final payment 90 days before departure. But if you cancel, most US travel agents don't charge you a fee.

Also if there is a price drop, you just speak to the TA and they will match it.

We get our flights when there is a deal about. Usually a lot nearer than now.

    I book my hotel through priceline.co.uk .

And we pay for private transfers.

If you have any questions please feel free to pm me. I use the above for reference then use a TA in Orlando who is great.

I would love to do a DIY cruise. Any tips on wether to book flight or cruise first? May be I should look at June/ July time instead.. basically i told going places I could go anytime between may and september and I did not want the med and this was the best price she could find between those dates. I did not request RC to her but she said they had comne out with the best price.

I have also tried to get a price from RC web site but it seems to be about the same as Going places are offering.

I will also give gill a call on monday then and see what they can do.

Thanks for the advice saveapenny. x x

Your right, Thinking about it that would not be the best of times to find other children.

My children will be 5 and 6 and the school are fine about taking 10 days a year holiday whilst they are still so young. so for now and untill it stops I will do it to save money and enable the children to have great holidays.

This sounds like you save a lot by doing it this way.

Do you mind if I ask... What sort of destinations do you go for?
What ships do you go for? What time of year do you travel? How far in advance do you book the ship? Do you book the ship and flights on the same day? Who do you normally get the best prices for flights from? How much do you normally payfor the whole package? How much do you think you save by doing it this way?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Nikki.
